About

I am a PhD Candidate in Computational Bioscience at The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. I am funded as an NIH/NLM T15 Biomedical Informatics and Data Science trainee under the guidance of Dr. Catherine Lozupone. My research involves development of computational methods for feature selection in longitudinal microbiome studies using machine learning methods. My projects include research on autism spectrum disorder and HIV. I received my BS in Microbiology from the University of California, San Diego and my MS in Bioinformatics and Medical Informatics from San Diego State University. I began my career in the wet lab and transitioned to computational work including investigations of the mycobiome of the built environment; pharmacogenetics; laboratory information management systems (LIMS); website development and natural language processing (NLP). I plan to graduate in 2024 and seek a career in industry as a bioinformatics scientist.
